Cuccio Veneer Product Guide

About Cuccio Veneer

Cuccio were extremely proud to announce the launch of our long awaited New Fourth Generation UV Polish. This product has been designed with the very latest technology in mind and really does have a cutting edge ingredient base, which includes the exclusion of Nitrocellulose.

This product unlike the majority on the market has no Nitrocellulose in it; this is the solvent that evaporates and causing thickening of the Gel. Working with this product you will find that the application is extremely thin giving the clients the feel that they really do just have their nails painted, unlike some ‘hybrids’ that can leave the nail feeling like it has a coating on it.

The quality of ingredients used through the manufacture of Veneer means that we have exceptional colour depth and so 2 coat application is really only ever needed. You will achieve not just a 2 week manicure but a product that will last on your clients nails as long as they want to wear it.

The lack in Nitrocellulose also means that you can still custom blend the same way that you could with Pronto – again, giving your clients that special chance to have the perfect colour for them, not to mention that the nail art ideas are endless.

Why did we wait so long to launch the product?

At Cuccio we truly pride ourselves in manufacturing high quality products that are not only excellent quality, but always keep the natural nail in mind. 2 years ago when the World went crazy with launching their Hybrid products we and the Leading manufacturer of nail varnish made the decision to keep our Gel in pots so that we could keep the Gel the 100% active ingredient, we knew that launching our Gel polish too early and not having the product quite ready would mean adding unnecessary solvents – especially Nitrocellulose, this in turn would lead to thickening of the product as it evaporated; inadequate cure times and potential damage to the natural nail.

We have now successfully created the Fourth Generation of UV/LED Soak Off Gel that is thin enough to be able to have in a nail varnish bottle without hampering the quality of the goods inside, with the successful removal of Nitrocellulose. We guarantee that you can paint to the bottom of the bottle and that the product inside will not thicken, this means that cure time will always remain 30 second ‘LED cure’ and you will see an increase in profit through not having to replace your products too early.

Cuccio Veneer is currently available in 44 colours that colour match 44 of the 60 Cuccio Colour varnishes, with the remaining 16 being available in the next few weeks.

Frequently asked questions

The Gel is lifting:
Veneer is such a thin product that really shouldn’t lift at all. However if you are getting lift please take the below into consideration:

  • The Gel is touching the soft tissue
  • You have not applied fuse or prep
  • You have applied the gel too thickly
  • Your preparation was insufficient

There is pigment on the wipe when I remove the induction layer:
As the Gel is pigmented you will naturally see some colour, as the induction layer is uncured Gel

The nails look streaky once finished
Due to the level of pigmentation that we use Veneer should not be streaky at all, you need to stir the Gel once a day to ensure that all of the pigments have been mixed – shaking the bottle is not enough

The nails look like orange peel once finished:
The Gel could have become contaminated. If you have soaked a set off ensure that you have sufficiently removed all of the soak off solution emollients from the solution could still be on the nail plate, you need to remove the gel, thoroughly dehydrate and reapply.

The nails are sticky once finished
Gel will not cure 100% due to oxygen, remove the induction layer with the Veneer cleansing wipe

The nails are dull in appearance:
Veneer top coat has an incredible shine, if its dull there could be a couple of reasons for this:

  • You have undercured the Gel, you need to cure in a UV lamp for 2 minutes or LED for 30 seconds
  • Your UV bulbs need replacing, this should be done every 4-6 months in a busy salon environment
  • You are using finishing wipe other than Veneer’s cleansing wipe

The product is taking too long to soak off?
The product has its own soak off solution which should be used to successfully remove the gels. The soak off solution needs to be shaken thoroughly before use to distribute the oils into the solution. The oils break through the gel quicker and the soak off time should be no longer than 10 minutes.

This could also happen if you are using a hard gel top coat over the top of the product as hard gel top coats are not soak off products.

I am having to apply too many layers of product to get the desired finish?
The product has to be applied in thin layers, however if you apply too much pressure with the brush on the nail plate during application you will drag off the product as you are trying to apply it. Use very light feathering strokes to apply.

Also make sure that you have stirred the gels before use.

2 coats should be enough, however you can apply a third if desired

The Gel is crinkling in the nail:
The Gel colour has been applied to thickly; you need to apply in thin coats.
It could also be that the Base coat Gel has not cured properly, please check your bulbs

Application for Veneer
Preparation:

Like all enhancement systems preparation is the key to how well the product lasts and is the stage that should not be rushed.

If you are going to use Veneer as part of your Manicure or Pedicure treatment then you must complete the application after the nails have been soaked and the cuticle work has been done, complete the rest of the treatment after, as oil on the nail will cause contamination to the product.

It is also recommended that the only lamp to use with UV polish is either a LED lamp or a multi-bulb lamp (36 watt is mandatory), this is because once you add pigment into the gel it needs to be cured from all angles and a single bulb lamp is not sufficient for this job. You also need to be able to get the whole hand under for speed. You must also consider that Gels are designed to go with the lamps and so you should only use the lamp designed to go with the product you are using.

It is advisable to always make sure your clients hand is fully under the lamp so a complete even cure is achieved.

Start by firstly sanitizing you, your client’s hands and all of your tools. Use a metal dual tool and gently pushing back the ‘eponychium’ with the rounded end of the tool. Gently remove the cuticle by using the other end of the tool.

Next use a Cuccio yellow softie block and gently remove the surface shine.

You do not need to buff the natural nail aggressively, this will cause damage. You literally just need to remove the shine.

It is advisable also at this stage to file the free edge into the desired length and shape.

Remove the dust from the nail and surrounding area and apply a small amount of Veneer ‘Prep’ to the nail plate. This product is used in place of our Nail Dehydrator as it dehydrates the nail plate prior to product application.

It does not need curing and will air dry.

Apply a small amount of Veneer ‘Fuse’ to the nails, one dip in the bottle is enough for all 5 nails. Again, this product will air dry and does not require curing. If your client does not usually have lifting problems and her nails are in good condition, you can apply Fuse to the outside of the whole nail and leave the centre of the nail un-primed.

This little tip will allow the product to be removed more easily when it is time for the product to be soaked off.

You must always apply a base coat gel to the natural nail to get the best results, help to stop any potential chipping and avoid staining of the natural nail.
Apply a thin coat of Cuccio Veneer Base coat gel to each of the nails including the thumb.

Cure for 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV

While the first hand is curing, repeat the process on the second hand.

French:

Complete above steps including the Veneer Base coat

Apply Cuccio Veneer ‘I left my Heart in San Fransisco’ or another base pink of your choice

Cure for 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV (you must use the lamp designed to go with the product that you are using)

Repeat on the other hand.

Apply Cuccio Veneer ‘Verona Lace’ to all 5 nails, if you need to perfect your whites then dip a clean gel brush into some finishing wipe, dab on a nail wipe and sweep the line. If a cream tip is required, apply Cuccio Veneer ‘So So Sofia’.

Cure for 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV (you must use the lamp designed to go with the product that you are using)

Repeat on the other hand.

Apply Veneer Top coat. This product has an extreme high gloss and is guaranteed to keep its shine. It has a no-scratch, no-craze formula.

Cure for 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV (you must use the lamp designed to go with the product that you are using)

Using a lint free wipe with Veneer Conditioning Cleansing Solution, (shake the solution before use) remove the induction layer/sticky residue by firmly wiping from one side of the nail to the other, then fold the wipe in half and use it to ‘scrub’ the nail, this will ensure that there is no sticky residue left.

It is important to remember that you should only use one wipe per nail as if you use the same wipe on all the nails you will transfer sticky residue from one nail to the next finger and expose the soft tissue to un-cured gel which could result in allergic reactions.

Apply Cuccio cuticle oil to finish.

Colour application
Once you have applied the base coat as above

Apply your first coat of Veneer Colour

Cure for 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV (you must use the lamp designed to go with the product that you are using)

It is important to remember that you should only use one wipe per nail as if you use the same wipe on all the nails you will transfer sticky residue from one nail to the next finger and expose the soft tissue to un-cured gel which could result in allergic reactions.

Apply Cuccio cuticle oil to finish.

Custom blending

You can mix the Veneer shades together to make any new colour. For instance if your client is going to a wedding and has an outfit that needs a specific match, you can make the perfect colour for her.

Use some foil (the best foil for this is hairdresser’s tint foil as it is thicker) and take a little from each of the colours that you want and mix them thoroughly with your mix stir tool, make sure you have enough to do a full set!!

A tip is to take a couple of colours that do not look great together and mix them up, sometimes they make the nicest colours!

Infilling and repairing a chip

If a client chips a nail or is going to continue wearing the same colour for another two weeks then it is OK to either repair the chip or infill, but there is a specific technique, the method is the same for both types of repair.

White block the area in need – do not file at this point as you risk thinning out the Gel and making it look patchy.

Apply Veneer ‘Prep’ to the whole nail

Apply Veneer ‘Fuse’ just to the exposed natural nail

Apply Veneer Base coat gel – literally just to the exposed natural nail, do not apply over the existing colour – cure 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV

Apply your first coat of Colour – literally just to the exposed natural nail, do not apply over the existing colour – cure 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV

(If you do accidentally get some on the existing Colour use a gel brush to feather the product to thin it back down)

Apply your second coat of Colour, this time gently pull the gel over the existing Colour, now use a gel brush and feather it slightly over the existing gel – this will ensure smooth and thin application – cure 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV

Apply Veneer Top coat over the whole nail – cure 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV

Remove the induction layer as above
